In 1983 AET developed and installed the industry's first surface mount gravity test handler. In 1986, the company was renamed Aetrium. Aetrium became a publicly held company in 1993 with its successful IPO. The same year, Aetrium entered the market for reliability test products used by the semiconductor industry.
